Forum is an ancient Roman term for a public gathering place where people could meet to discuss matters of importance. The on-line forum is the continuation of this very long tradition of public discussion, updated for the digital age. Now, people are free to participate in discussions, regardless of time and location.

Your hospital has set up a number of forums, each of which focuses on a particular topic - keeping threads and posts "on-topic" is important, and forum participants need to keep this in mind. Your hospital also has appointed one or more moderators for each forum. Moderators review forum activity and can post clarifications or additional information. Moderators also can move threads to another, more appropriate forum, and if necessary, censor posts and discipline or even ban individuals.
